Age: 18
Sex: Female

What is your degree subject (both if joint)?
Its social care and social policy

Does ‘Being Bad’ relate well to the other modules you are taking?
Yes

If so, how? And if not, why not?
It relates with one of my core modules in social care cause it shows the bad habits which decreases social capital in society.

Have you found ‘Being Bad’ too demanding, too easy, or at an appropriate level?
It was at an appropriate level

Do you think the list of topics covered on the module was appropriate?
They were appropriate showing the bad habits that people do however I found the topic on masturbation a bit disgusting .

Are there any topics not included in the module that you would like to see included?
Yes .topic such as prison and abuse (all sorts of abuse)

Do you think that the format for classes has worked well?
Yes the format worked well.

What did you think of the module team?
The module team was okay however some of the modules members need to make their topic a bit interesting by including activities. Too much talking makes people find it boring

Do you think it would have been better to have had more:

Small group discussions?
Yes makes people comfortable for example the uncomfortable topics such as masturbation

Discussion and debate among the class as a whole?
Makes it interesting because you hear other peoples views and thoughts on the topic .

Information and talk from lecturers?
Too much information and talk with no activities make it boring

The approach taken in the module is interdisciplinary (drawing on perspectives from English Literature, Film Studies, Creative Writing, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Media Studies and Politics): do you think this a useful way of approaching the topics covered in the module?
Yes it is because you have various information.

Do you think that interdisciplinary modules are a good idea?
Yes

Do you think you have benefited from the interdisciplinary approach taken in the module?
Yes . it has shown me when doing something you do research on it from all aspects

Would you like to see more modules that cover this kind of subject matter?
Yes

Are you planning to take the follow-up module PH2004 ‘It Shouldn’t Be Allowed’ at level 2?
Yes

Would you recommend ‘Being Bad’ to a friend?
Yes

Do you think that the blogs (web logs) were a good idea?
It was but sometimes you forget to enter an entree.

What did you think of the other assessments (e.g. would it be better to have one longer assessment rather than two shorter ones?)?
Have one long assignment cause it would be finished and done

What have you learned from the module?
The following things I have learnt:
• To make a commitment to something and keep with it for example web blog
• To say my views showing my views are important
• The body modification taught me that people do it for different reasons

What parts of the module have you found most useful and why?
I have found body modification useful because it taught me so many things I didn’t know such as people have piercing and tattoos even for religion.

What parts do you think were a waste of time and why?
Nothing

Are there any other comments you wish to make regarding ‘Being Bad’?
Yes regarding the too religious topic. I found it very offencive because my sister attends watch tower which you gave an example. The thing which I found offencive was you did not pick on other religions or denominations. I think you should include other religions because you were just picking on Christianity the most compared to other. Other religions were not even mentioned t all.

Shoplifting

Shoplifting is a crime .it might seem like a small thing but it a huge thing .some people shop lift because they don’t have or they admire the item . iwas coming from school one day and my friend suggested we go in Woolworths to buy some drink . on my way going to the till my friens went t the sweet corner and put ome sweets in the bag and walked away . I felt very ashamed and embraced cause my friend stole .Some celebrates have been caught shoplifting such as Winona Ryder . To read the article follow the link http://news.scotsman.com/celebrities.cfm?id=1239762002 .This gives a picture to children that shoplifting is cool .

2nd comment

This comment is to gisele umumbyeyi on http://umubyeyi.blogspot.com/2007/05/swearing.html . I agree with you on your topic about swearing .each year I watch big brother and they swear a lot. The word f*** seems normal and the word s***. However as you said that you say it when you are hurt or shocked I have my daughter and I discovered that my daughter sometimes repeat what I say. So I discovered something to handle the situation. For example instead of saying s*** you can find a word to replace it such as shoot.

a comment to jess on http://beingbadjess07.blogspot.com/2007/04/infidelity.html

I agree that almost everyone has thought about infidelity or has committed infidelity. However this does not mean we should accept it. Also media has shown that infidelity is exciting and spontaneous with the way they illustrate it. For example currently on the soap eastender one of the characters is married and having an affair with the son’s ex- girl friend.

drugs

http://www.talktofrank.com/home_html.aspx .
This website got good information about drug; it explains all the types of drugs and how it makes people feel or why people take drugs. It also illustrates how a person should act if they are worried that someone they know is taking drugs.
Personal I think drugs are not good they affect you mentally and physically. The thing about drugs is you will continue using them and you won’t stop unless you admit that you have a problem.

masturbation

Different people have different views on masturbation. Some people think masturbation is disgusting for a person to do that. God did not create person so that they pleasure themselves but he created a man a woman to have the same interest in people making love or sex. On the other hand masturbation is not evil, dirty or harmful - it will not make you go blind, drive you insane and turn you in to a pervert. The only real problems that come with masturbation are psychological and are the result of unhealthy or weary attitudes toward doing it (if you do it but are ashamed) or abnormal practices, , for example, public masturbation. for more information about what other people think on masturbation is :http://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-11519.0.html

drinking

i recently read an article in the Leicester mercury which said that most people who drink are teenagers . this made me queries on the topic . so i did more research about the topic on the Internet .i found out that alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence are not only adult problems -- they also affect a significant number of adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12 and 20, even though drinking under the age of 21 is illegal.
The average age when youth first try alcohol is 11 years for boys and 13 years for girls. The average age at which Americans begin drinking regularly is 15.9 years.

gambling

How many have gambled and to what extact .Personally l think severe gambling is wrong such as gambling all your savings .gambling for fun is okay it makes it challenging and interesting because you are expecting to do something .

Addiction to gambling takes time which means if you get addicted it will take time for you to get over your obsession. people with an addiction of gambling there is a high chance that they in debt or they will end up homeless.

They are so many organisation which help with gambling .Some of the organisations have online facilities so that people can contact them .Or a 24 hr telephone that they can get help . An example of an organisation which provides these facilities is gamcare organisation alternatively you can visit the website which is http://www.gamcare.org.uk/

smoking

Research shows that approximately five million deaths world-wide every year is caused by smoking. In the UK over 80% smokers start smoking when they are teenagers. With statistics like this what make people smoke? For more statistics visit this web address: http://www.ash.org.uk/

They are so many reasons why people smoke. Below are reasons why people smoke:
Peer pressure: some people smoke especially teenagers because of peer pressure, their peers will be doing it so of they don’t follow what their peer’s do they will feel like cowards or left out.
Availability. Cigarettes are available every where and almost any body can get them and that is one major factor that contributes to the development of the habit. Another reason is that cigarettes are so damn cheap .

Aping. Movie stars and other celebrities who smoke look so cool, and this is more than enough reason for youngsters to start smoking just to copy their matinee idol

The Feel Good Syndrome. Cigarettes are often identified with the "cool factor" and so it is a great way to impress others if you can delicately balance the cigarette between two of your fingers and blow up a puff of smoke while you are in your friends' circle.

Stress busters. Cigarettes are often wrongly identified as stress busters and one of the best ways of driving away sleep. So when we see others resorting to the habit, we are tempted and even coaxed into taking a puff. If one parent smokes there is a 25% chance that the child too will grow up into a smoker. If both parents smoke, there is a 75% chance that the child will become a smoker.

Attitude. This is a good one, but strangely enough this cause is seldom identified as one of the reasons for picking up the habit. One thing about most of us is that there is a rebellious strain in all of us. There is something in us that generates an urge to protest against existing rules and norms and during our teenage, what better way to express our defiance than by sporting a lighted cigarette between our fingers or lips.

tatoos

I have learnt that tattoos have different means to people . Some people get tattoos because of memory's ,fashion statement , fashion trend ,tradition , beauty .some body modification can make it difficult too find employment . Employers will feel ike employing someone with body modification won't create a good image on the company . This shows how people with body modification are disadvantaged from employment . Below is an example body modification .

prostitution

I have been doing some research about this topic . I have seen that they are different types of prostitution which are :
Street prostitution
Escort/ Out call prostitution .
Street prostitution is when the prostitute solicits customers while waiting at street corners or "walking the street".

Click on http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6175759.stm to read a article about this woman and her views and experience on street prostitution .
Escort / Out call prostitution is when the act takes place at the customer's place of residence or more commonly at his or her hotel room (currently referred to as "out-call"), or at the escort's place of residence or in a hotel room rented for the occasion by the escort (called "incall"). This form of prostitution often shelters under the umbrella of escort agencies, who ostensibly supply attractive escorts for social occasions. While escort agencies claim never to provide sexual services, very few successful escorts are available exclusively for social companionship
So which one is better or is it both wrong . I think both is wrong the kind of act degrades women it makes them think that’s the easy way to make money . Of which they are so many better ways to get money . Prostitution reduces women’s self esteem and confidence .

infedlility

infidelity is wrong it shows like you are not satisfied with your relationship that you will be currently in.
One might ask what is infidelity . This is when someone has an affair while still in another relationship . over the past few weeks i have been doing some research on this topic . during that course of period i watched this film called waiting to exhale it contrast the advantages and disadvantages of infidelity . One of the advantage of infidelity is the people involved in the affair will be happy with the time they share together .however the disadvantages of infidelity is family's are destroyed is involved . It involves deceiving and not being honest enough to the partner and within yourself . If you follow this link it will show you the trailer of the film and you will identify the advantages and disadvantages of infedility . http://movies2.nytimes.com/gst/movies/trailer.html?v_id=135505
